Wonderful Work by Year 9 Geographers: Rainforests

Year 9 Geography pupils were asked to produce a fact-sheet on the rainforest biome as part of an end of unit assignment. The assignment needed to show how processes operate in the ecosystem, why the ecosystem is under threat and how it can be managed sustainably. This excellent work by Fern Cumine in Year 9 effectively addresses these criteria in an informative and creatively presented response. Well done, Fern.

Year 9 Geographers: European Union

As part of the Geography Department's 'learning log' assignments, some pupils have chosen to focus on the European Union. The subject is currently a hot topic in the media and this gave pupils a chance to independently research and make up their own minds about the role of the European Union. As you can see, pupils were asked to present both sides of the argument in an imaginative way. This excellent work by Millie Harris in Year 9 exemplifies how our geographers in Ysgol Harri Tudur/Henry Tudor School really enjoy getting involved in current affairs and 'geography in the news'.

Year 8 Artists: Hundertwasser

In Art, Year 8 have been studying Hundertwasser and experimenting with different, creative painting techniques. They have used influences from their own environment in response to Hundertwasser's belief in the '5 skins'. That we are all deserving of respect, and we should respect everyone and everything we see. As you can see, pupils have display excellent mastery over their painting. Well done pupils, and we look forward to seeing more from our talented artists here at Ysgol Harri Tudur/ Henry Tudor School.

The Friends of Ysgol Harri Tudur/Henry Tudor School have been selected by Co-op as a recipient of their charitable Local Community Fund initiative. This is similar to that run by Tesco with their community fund, where we received £1500 to assist with the breakfast club. The Co-op fund works slightly differently; you need to be a Co-op member (£1) and download their app; if you then select the Community tab you can see the causes - select The Friends of the School. Monies raised will help continue the breakfast club into 2025. The notification message from Co-op is repeated below. Congratulations! The Friends of Ysgol Harri Tudur/Henry Tudor School has been chosen to be part of the next round of the Co-op Local Community Fund (Cause ID: 87323) The funding round will start on Sunday 20 October 2024 and will run for 12 months until 19 October 2025. During this time, Co-op Members will be able to choose you as their cause, the more members who choose you, the more money you’ll receive. The Co-op invests profits back into communities. By becoming a member you can choose a cause; the total amount each cause receives depends upon how many members have chosen them.
