About Cookies

Cookies are small simple text files which are stored on your device (computer, tablet, smartphone etc) when you visit a website. They are useful because they allow a website to recognise a user's device. Cookies are used by most modern websites, and in many cases are essential for the operation of the website. In particular, they are used to allow the website to "remember" you, either for a single visit, as you move from one web page to another within the site ("session cookies"), or for repeat visits, so that you are "recognised" when you visit the website again from the same device ("persistent cookies"). Another common use is to provide information to owners of the site about which pages have been visited, how long visitors have spent on a particular page, and so on.

We have categorised the cookies used on this website based on the categories outlined in the International Chamber of Commerce's UK Cookie guide. You may also find the information at www.aboutcookies.org helpful.

Category 1: Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential in order to enable you to move around a website and use its features, such as accessing secure areas of a site.

A cookie of this type (a so-called PHP session cookie) is used to "remember" your acceptance of this policy and to facilitate the updating of the website using a content management system.

Category 2: Performance cookies

These cookies collect information about how visitors use a website, for instance which pages visitors go to most often, and if they receive error messages from web pages. These cookies do not collect information that identifies a visitor. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. It is only used to improve how a website works. Web analytics that use cookies to gather data to enhance the performance of a website fall into this category.

Cookies of this type are used by Matomo, our analytics platform, which Ysgol Harri Tudur / Henry Tudor School uses to gather anonymous aggregated information about how our website is used. We have implemented the option in Matomo to anonymise IP addresses. The use of Matomo, rather than the more popular Google Analytics system, allows us to ensure that no information about our website use is transferred from our server to third parties not directly authorised by Ysgol Harri Tudur / Henry Tudor School. More information about Matomo and the anonymised information it gathers can be found on their website: www.matomo.org.

Category 3: Functionality cookies

These cookies allow the website to remember choices you make (such as your user name, language or the region you are in) and provide enhanced, more personal features. For instance, a website may be able to provide you with local weather reports or traffic news by storing in a cookie the region in which you are currently located. These cookies can also be used to remember changes you have made to text size, fonts and other parts of web pages that you can customise. They may also be used to provide services you have asked for such as watching a video or commenting on a blog. The information these cookies collect may be anonymised and they cannot track your browsing activity on other websites.

Cookies of this type are used on this website only to remember your acceptance of this cookie policy. No information is transferred to third parties.

Category 4: Targeting cookies or advertising cookies

These cookies are used to deliver adverts more relevant to you and your interests. They are also used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement as well as help measure the effectiveness of the advertising campaign. They are usually placed by advertising networks with the website operator's permission. They remember that you have visited a website and this information is shared with other organisations such as advertisers. Quite often targeting or advertising cookies will be linked to site functionality provided by the other organisation.

The Ysgol Harri Tudur / Henry Tudor School website does not use targeting cookies or advertising cookies.

The Friends of Ysgol Harri Tudur/Henry Tudor School have been selected by Co-op as a recipient of their charitable Local Community Fund initiative. This is similar to that run by Tesco with their community fund, where we received £1500 to assist with the breakfast club. The Co-op fund works slightly differently; you need to be a Co-op member (£1) and download their app; if you then select the Community tab you can see the causes - select The Friends of the School. Monies raised will help continue the breakfast club into 2025. The notification message from Co-op is repeated below. Congratulations! The Friends of Ysgol Harri Tudur/Henry Tudor School has been chosen to be part of the next round of the Co-op Local Community Fund (Cause ID: 87323) The funding round will start on Sunday 20 October 2024 and will run for 12 months until 19 October 2025. During this time, Co-op Members will be able to choose you as their cause, the more members who choose you, the more money you’ll receive. The Co-op invests profits back into communities. By becoming a member you can choose a cause; the total amount each cause receives depends upon how many members have chosen them. As such, please sign up and select The Friends of Ysgol Harri Tudur/Henry Tudor School as your cause!  Read More…
